Cub Room Curriculum
The Cub room
curriculum includes Sensorial, Practical Life, Math and Language. We
also have an Art and Science section.
In
Sensorial the child learns lessons that promote the use of their
senses. These are lessons that include comparing the feel of
different objects and matching them. Also using sight and smell to
compare and match. These lessons promote a more abstract way of
thinking.
Practical
Life is more everyday learning for the child. They learn skills such
as pouring, sweeping, Tong transfer, scooping and sorting. There is
dry Practical Life and Practical Life using water. The water area
requires more control.
In the Math
area we work on using materials that promote counting and also the concept
of zero. In addition we have sand paper numbers in the math section
to visualize and feel the shape of numbers.
Our
Language section has lessons in it to teach letters and the sounds of the
letters. We reinforce this by having a letter of the week. We
also start to teach writing skills in this section with worksheets for
tracing.
In our Art
section children are encouraged to be creative. There are many
lessons to choose from such as cutting, water painting, pasting, hole
punching and many more.
The Science
section is filled with lessons to teach about our environment such as such as sand, water, and the different shelfish from our oceans. We have lessons that
teach the difference between magnetic and non-magnetic and many more
lessons that make this section a fun way for children to explore.
